How Much Do Professional Headshots Cost in Sydney?
If you are looking for a professional headshot in Sydney, one of the first questions is usually: how much should I expect to pay?
The answer varies considerably. You will find quick express sessions at one end of the market and more involved executive or personal branding sessions at the other. The important thing is not simply the session price, but what is actually included and whether the photographs will give you what you need.
A professional headshot may be used on LinkedIn, your company website, a speaker profile, media article, email signature or business directory for several years. It is worth comparing the complete experience rather than choosing on price alone.
What affects the price of a professional headshot?
Headshot packages can look similar at first glance, but there are several things that change the final cost.
1. Session length and number of looks
A short session designed to create one strong LinkedIn image will naturally cost less than a longer session with several outfits, backgrounds and expressions. If you need images for more than LinkedIn, having extra variety can be useful.
2. Number of finished photographs
Check how many professionally retouched images are included. Some photographers charge a sitting fee and then sell images separately. Others offer packages that already include a set number of finished photographs.
3. Hair, makeup and grooming
Professional styling can be an additional cost, or it may be included. For my individual Sydney headshot sessions, professional hair and makeup is included in all women’s packages, with professional grooming included for men. It means you do not have to organise a separate appointment or arrive wondering whether you are camera-ready.
4. Retouching
Professional retouching should refine the image without making you look artificial. I remove temporary distractions, soften anything that pulls attention away from you and keep skin looking like real skin.
5. Studio versus location
An individual studio session is usually simpler to price. Corporate photography at an office may include travel, equipment, setup time and a larger number of people, so team photography is generally quoted differently.

For individuals, I offer three levels depending on how much variety you need:
Basic LinkedIn Headshots
Men $250 / Women $350
Includes 1 retouched image, 1 outfit, colour + black-and-white files, plus hair and makeup for women or grooming for men.
Essential LinkedIn Headshots
Men $395 / Women $495
Includes 2 retouched images, 2 outfits, colour + black-and-white files, plus hair and makeup for women or grooming for men.
Executive Personal Branding
Men $695 / Women $795
Includes 4 retouched images, multiple looks, colour + black-and-white files, plus hair and makeup for women or grooming for men.
The right package depends less on your job title and more on how you plan to use the photographs. If you simply need a fresh LinkedIn image, the Basic package may be enough. If you want options for LinkedIn, your company website and professional profiles, the Essential package gives you more flexibility. If you regularly appear in media, speak publicly, run a business or need a wider professional image library, the Executive Personal Branding session is designed for that.
What should you ask before booking?
When comparing Sydney headshot photographers, ask what the quoted price includes. How many finished images will you receive? Is retouching included? Can you change outfits? Is professional styling available? Will you receive files suitable for both online and high-resolution use? And, importantly, will the photographer guide you with posing and expression?
Most of my clients are not professional models and do not arrive knowing what to do in front of a camera. They should not have to. Direction is part of the job.
A headshot should still look like you
Price matters, but the photograph also needs to feel right. A technically perfect portrait is not much use if it feels stiff, overly retouched or unlike the person people meet in real life.
