One of the most common questions from CBD businesses booking headshots is whether to come into the studio or have the photographer come to them. Both work well — the right choice depends on your team size, timeline, and how much you want the day to disrupt normal office operations.
Studio Sessions
Shooting in a dedicated studio gives the most consistent lighting and background from person to person, which matters if you're building out a full team page or LinkedIn library that needs to look cohesive. It also comes with full access to backdrops, lighting setups, and an on-site hair and makeup station — useful if people are coming straight from a busy morning and want a proper refresh before their photo is taken.
Onsite Sessions
For larger teams, or businesses that don't want staff taking time out of the office, an onsite session can be more efficient. A corner of a boardroom or a quiet spot near a window with good natural light is usually enough to set up a professional backdrop. The tradeoff is less control over lighting consistency compared to a studio, though a skilled photographer can manage this with portable lighting.

Team of 10+, or an all-day event: onsite is usually more practical
Small team or a handful of individual bookings: studio gives the best quality and least logistical hassle
Need hair and makeup included: studio sessions make this easiest to build into the day
Want a photo that reflects your actual office environment (e.g. for a website 'meet the team' page): onsite can add authenticity
What to Expect Either Way
Regardless of location, a good session should include time for a quick consultation beforehand, several outfit or pose variations, and a turnaround timeline you're told upfront.
